Our Programs

PARENT AND SLUGGER (18 months to 3 years old)

We are excited to introduce a very special Nova Scotia Young Sluggers program this summer in the Halifax area.    Our Parent and Slugger program is a fun and innovative program designed to introduce 18 month to 3 year old Sluggers to baseball while accompanied by a parent or guardian on the field.

Are you looking for the ultimate parent and toddler program?  Look no further then Nova Scotia Young Sluggers Parent and Slugger Program for 18 month to 3 year old Young Sluggers.  This  program is designed for toddlers and parents as a fun first experience with baseball.

Program highlights:

- Designed for 18 month to 3 year old girls and boys to introduce them to baseball fundamentals with the comfort of having their parent or guardian by their side.
- The program is 100% inclusive
- Players and parents will work together in small groups and rotate through fun stations learning baseball fundamentals while improving balance, coordination, agility, and teamwork skills.
- Safe, age appropriate equipment is used so there is no need for a batting helmet. (baseball glove is optional)
- All players will receive a Nova Scotia Young Sluggers t-shirt at the beginning and a Young Sluggers medal at the end of the summer.

- An unforgettably fun experience for you and your little Young Slugger.

Schedule: Saturdays at 9:00am 
Location: Halifax Field Location TBD

Dartmouth Location:

If there is interest, we will consider adding a Dartmouth session on Saturday afternoons.

2020 SUMMER REGISTRATION OPEN

REGISTRATION IS NOW OPEN FOR YOUNG SLUGGERS GIRLS BASEBALL.



FUNDAMENTALS PROGRAM (Birth Years: 2015 and 2016)

Our fundamentals program is designed to improve on and enhance the fundamental skills acquired in minor baseball programs.  Players will be divided into small groups and work on specific skills through fun stations that are designed to keep the players active for the entire session.

Program Highlights:

- Players will start their baseball journey the right way by being introduced to proper fundamentals through fun and dynamic activities.
- Players will learn proper techniques for hitting, catching, throwing, fielding, and running in an exciting, non competitive environment.
- Players are provided with a great social introduction to the team environment run by coaches.
- Parents are welcome to help out in the stations with their child's team.  This maximizes the amount of repetitions during each skill station.
- Players will be introduced to game rules and have the opportunity to play mini non-competitive games.
 - Our objective with this program is to make each session as fun and engaging as possible.
- Players must be registered in a minor baseball program to participate in this program (unless your area has no programs available for this age group)
- All player will be issued a Young Sluggers hat and t-shirt at the beginning of the summer and all players will receive a Young Sluggers medal at the end of the summer.

YOUNG SLUGGERS PREP PROGRAM (Birth Years 2013-2014)

Youth baseball's biggest leap is moving into U9 baseball.  Baseball programs get real, meaning player or machine pitching, umpires, and competition. Our PREP program is specifically designed to prepare our 6 and 7 year old Young Sluggers  so they can walk on the field with confidence in their local U9 program.

Program Highlights:

- Agility and coordination development
- Advanced hitting and fielding techniques
- Building on and reinforcing throwing/catching/fielding/hitting/running fundamentals (THE RIGHT WAY!)
- Pitcher / catcher fundamentals
- Improve game knowledge and situational awareness in the field
- Players will be introduced to game rules (outs / strike outs / strike zone)
- Players will develop teamwork and leadership skills for success on and off the field.
- Players will be divided into small groups and rotate between stations to maximize repetitions and keep the players active for the entire session.
- Fun skills and drills will be used to introduce competition. 
- Most sessions will end with a game (U9 rules) to work on their skills and to prepare them for U9 game play.
- Players must already be registered in a minor baseball program to participate in this program
- All players receive a Nova Scotia Young Sluggers hat and t-shirt at the beginning of the season and a Young Sluggers medal at the end of the summer.
